The UPSC Civil Services Examination
(Prelims and Mains) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for
entrance to the IAS, IPS, IFS and other Group ‘A’ and some Group ‘B’ services.
Eligibility
Nationality
•For Indian Administrative Service, a
candidate should be a citizen of India.
•For Indian Foreign Service and other
services, a candidate should either be a citizen of India/ a subject of Nepal/
a subject of Bhutan/ a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st
January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India/a person of
Indian origin who has migrated from other countries (detailed list of countries
available on the official website) with the intention of permanently settling
in India.
Age Limit
•A candidate should be between 21 – 30
years (both inclusive) as on the date mentioned under the UPSC examination
notification.
Exam Format
The Civil Services Exam is a paper based
test and consists of two successive stages:
(i) Preliminary
Examination (Objective type) – comprising 2 exams – General Studies and CSAT
(ii) Civil
Services Main Examination (Written and Interview)
